Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP

Dr. Thomas J. Nasca is president and chief executive officer of the ACGME. Prior to joining the ACGME, Dr. Nasca served as dean of Jefferson Medical College and as the senior vice president for Academic Affairs. In 2007, he assumed the leadership of the ACGME. He has held previous leadership roles with the ACGME Review Committee for Internal Medicine, the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, the American College of Physicians, and the Council on Graduate Medical Education. He is a former member of the Council of Deans of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Board of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Nasca values his education in nephrology and remains an active teacher within the specialty. He is widely respected as a leader among leaders in medical education and as a visionary with a focus on continuous improvement, strategic initiatives, and inclusivity for all in both educational opportunities and access to care.
