ACGME-I Announces 2027 ACGME International Award Recipients

ACGME International (ACGME-I) proudly announces the 2027 winners of the ACGME International Awards, which celebrate individuals who have shown extraordinary dedication to graduate medical education (GME) at institutions and programs accredited by ACGME-I around the world.

The Susan H. Day Physician Leader Award honors physicians who lead educational activities and promote values that underpin ACGME-I accreditation. The 2027 recipients are:

  • Ornella Saintérant, MD, Designated Institutional Official, Mirebalais University, Port au Prince, Haiti 
  • Shireen Suliman, MBBS, MRCP, MEHP, PhD, Associate Director of Medical Education, Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar

The Physician Educator Award honors program directors and faculty members directly involved in teaching residents and fellows and caring for patients. The 2027 recipients are:

  • Elias Ghossoub, MD, MSc, Psychiatry Program Director, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon
  • Danish Abdul Aziz, MBBS, MRCPCH, FCPS, Pediatrics Program Director, Aga Khan University Hospital, Sindh, Pakistan

The Staff Award honors administrators and other staff members who have provided extraordinary service to the educational process, to residents and fellows, and to meeting ACGME-I requirements. The 2027 recipients are:

  • Aline Yacoubian, PhD, Executive Assistant and Senior GME Program Coordinator, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon
  • Betty Muchai, Program Coordinator, Department of Medicine, Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya

The awardees will be honored during the 2027 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, which will take place on 25-27 February 2027, in San Antonio, Texas, US.
